For the first time in my life, I wasn't the Rockstar high-performer. After 2 years (!) of pushing through stress, exhaustion, and overwhelm; my career, my relationship, and my health were all starting to crumble. I was Burnt Out. Crispy. Done-zo. I quit my job and went backpacking for 6 months (because you can do that when you're 24 with no kids or mortgage).

I reflected on what had led up to the Burn Out, using my therapist-knowledge of stress and trauma. I became obsessed with burn out: the personality traits, the habits, and the work conditions that create it. I spent the next 15 years working in various settings fousing on Burn Out recovery with high-achievers from corporate, tech start-ups, healthcare, teachers, you name it. Everyone had the same internal personality patterns that, when combined with a high stress job, made burn out inevitable.

You might say I've learned a thing or two about how to prevent Burn Out: its root causes, and the practical tools that you can implement in the day-to-day. You can conquer work stress and and still have energy for the things that actually matter.

For me, that's my two toddlers (yup, I had 2 under 2), hiking the glorious Colorado mountains, cooking, travel, ceramics, and having being a voracious fan of seeing live music, all while being a double-entrepreneur.
